no news is good news

I didn't quite realize how long it's been since I last posted until Shelley, Tammy and Juice started checking up on me! I'm so lucky to have made such great friends here in blogland that people actually miss me.

Things are really pretty darn samey same over here so I haven't posted much. I didn't want to write a boring post about being bored :) I'm working 2 jobs, one for myself and one for someone else, and as always struggling to find the time to work out. I've been maintaining by eating well and walking the dogs but it's not enough for me. These days I need the hard exercise to keep my anxiety at bay and my energy up. I have made it to week 4 of couch to 5k and have been stuck there for a few weeks. Hopefully after a week or so of getting up early I'll be ready to move on to week 5. I'm so proud of myself for making it this far I can't give up now.

Everything is once again pointing me to morning workouts. I don't know why it's so hard for me other than the fact my mom says I have never been a morning person since birth. Things change as we get older so maybe after a couple of months, I will be that morning person I envy. I will stop saying "whatever Melissa" as the girl from the end of the street is finishing her morning run as I'm just opening the curtains. Tomorrow I'm up and out the door at 5:45. This can't be so bad. Right???

Thanks again to my girls for checking up on me. You inspire me every day!

  2. So glad you posted - I know you've been super busy, but still...throw us a bone once in a while! ;)

You are really doing great with your C25K program and I'm proud of you for not giving up - and you know what? I need to get out early in the morning to do my running, too (it's so freaking hot here now) and that is a hard thing to make myself do...but maybe if I know that you are also up and running (literally, haha) early, I will force myself to get up and out, too.

Thank you for your help last week - I really appreciate it!

  9. Let’s face it. Who wants to be fat, especially women. It is a known fact that obesity in this country has become an epidemic. Why? If you look at TV, you will notice the media is constantly bombarding us with ads about food.
Why are advertising agencies flooding us with so many TV commercials about food, especially about McDonald’s or Burger King? The simple fact is they want you to get fat so you will go out and spend more money on diet pills. This way you can get skinny and then start all over by going back to the fast food joints to get fat again. It is a catch-22 scenario. It is a vicious cycle.

Understand one fact. The heath condition of the majority of people in developed nations has deteriorated to such an extent that it has literally become a crisis. According to experts, about 70% of the adult population living in the U.S is overweight. This means if you are thin and healthy you make up the minority.

This is a sad fact and something that needs to change. To think that the normal way to live is to be out of shape, overweight, and have all kinds of diseases? It is insanity. To think that nine out of ten people are obese is a bad stat. And this is what this country is leading to.

Why is this country leaning toward getting fat? It is because most of us live sedentary lives. Kids are not spending their time running around and playing games outside. Instead, they jump on their video games or spend time surfing the Internet and chatting with friends or others.
Besides the above, people are getting fatter because of the way they eat. They try to grab something quick and end up eating something they should not. Everything that is bought from the store is processed. It is refined. Most foods are packed with chemicals to preserve them for shelf life. We live in a fast-paced world. For this reason people claim they don’t have time to cook or are too tired to. So they grab quick junk foods from corner stores, fast food joints, and restaurants.

The plain and simple fact is that people have become lazy. In order to get out of that, you need to push yourself to maintain your control. You have to act responsibly.

The solution to being overweight is simple. Make smarter food choices, prepare your own meals, and get out and exercise. If you do this, you won’t have to worry about being fat.

  10. I agree with that. No news is good news! Most of the time. It is a lot easier to vent on a blog sometimes than it is to pat yourself on the back. But if you made it to week 4 of C25K, you deserve a pat on the back.

  11. Jim's got a great point.

You know, friends are a great motivator for exercise. Do you have any running partners? I always end up working out harder when I've got a companion. Inspires that competitive drive I've got.

Hey, keep us updated! We love your work. Also, when you get a chance, check out www.TheDietSolutionProgram.com. It contains a lot of valuable information that addresses the problems brought up by Jim, and how to solve these issues.

  12. Isn't it awesome to have friends that keep you accountable!?! That's one of the reasons I'm starting something new.

I have a personal weight loss blog too and I also contribute to an online magazine. I needed a new goal to keep me motivated so I started "100 Days to Better Health." We start tomorrow and end on 10-10-10! Check it out! Would love to know what you think and if you would like to join in! We can all use some encouragement, right?

    Sincerely,
    Charli
