I need an ass kicking

I'm doing that thing. That horrible thing where you start to tell yourself you are going to start over again in January. I can't believe I even have these thoughts after all I've learned. I'm just glad I'm aware when I'm trying to talk myself into something stupid and can run to my blog for sanity.

I've been working so much at the computer and I'm still having problems getting motivated to move. My eating schedule is all messed up. I don't eat enough during the day and am starving by 6:00. Usually my husband is motivating me but he's in the same funk. We have never been at that point at the same time before and it's making it even more difficult!

I'm not going to whine about it anymore. I'm going to go eat some turkey soup and then at least walk the dogs. I think it's time to dust off some weights.

  1. Change can be good but it isn't always easy - as I'm sure you're finding out. Try maintaining your good habits during this time of flux - it might help provide some stability until things settle down. Am thinking of you and hoping for all good things.

  2. You're working for yourself now, and that means being more organized about what you're doing with your time. You need to apply that same mindset to your weight-loss journey. This needs to be a high priority item for you or it just won't get done. Waiting until January will just put you back with the crowd, and in worse shape than you are right now. It'll just be harder if you wait.

Institute small changes and make them happen. Make taking care of yourself job #1.

Without the chains of a 9-5 job, this could be your golden opportunity to really make some magic happen!

  4. Don't wait until January - you can do a lot of damage between now and then! Maybe just do one "right" thing each day and you will start getting into the mindset of healthier eating and exercising?

  5. Tina, you can do it! I totally empathize: I used to be morbidly obese and was able to lose 90 pounds and keep it off, so I know exactly the state of mind you're in right now. Instead of getting down on yourself, I always find it helpful to reflect on all of the good things I've done for myself to get where I am. Just the fact that you're writing this blog post says that part of you really has the strength to see this through! Be proud of that part of yourself and think about how amazing it will be when you achieve your goal. And over the next few days, I suggest you remind yourself each day to reflect on these positive things and reaffirm your commitment to getting healthy! Hope this helps.

  7. Tina, I think how you're feeling is perfectly normal, considering all you've been through lately! Just take it one day at a time, and don't beat yourself up over it! Once you get back into the groove of things, it will be a lot easier. Best of luck!

  8. You can do it! And just having one good clean day will find you waking up feeling renewed and lighter in every way. Hang in there, Tina!

  9. Tina, hang in there. Whenever you think about "starting over" in January, think about the last time you thought you would "start over." Did you? How long did it last?

Right now, today, this minute - that's all you have and all you can control right now. God only knows what January will bring (or even tomorrow). Do what you can; do EVERYTHING you can right now, today, this minute. And just see how much better you will feel tomorrow, the next day, and in January.

The bonus is that in January when you *said* you'd start over? You won't have to. You'll be ahead of where you would've been, and can just keep going from there.

  10. Hi Tina -- I don't want to spam your comments. Do you have an email address where I could send something on our new site iChange (founded by eHarmony and CitySearch team). Would love to get your feedback on it. Thanks.

  11. I am so excited I can contribute good news and say something positive. You have to check out: www.houstonhcgmedical.com

After the last 3 months or so, I feel as if I understand why I struggled with weight my entire life. We are all different and our bodies, family history and other factors play a huge role in how and where our bodies store fat.

I started a program in September, with Doctor oversight, that really worked. I have lost over 60 pounds of fat without harming my healthy tissue (muscle) since starting. I feel as if I discovered a secret cure to weight gain.

It may help you, too. You can learn more, and even see testimonials from others this has worked for, www.houstonhcgmedical.com. I wish you the best of luck.
