Friday weigh in

Happy Friday everyone!

Heat, hills, humidity and hormones - it's been a little bit of a rough week.

I knew it was coming - the humidity came on quick and it was tough to handle. I thought I was a bad-ass runner and suddenly I'm not! I've been dragging all week and can't seem to shake it. It's been hard to get up, even harder to get myself out for a run and then even harder to move through the thick, rainforest air. I tried the treadmill and I still wasn't feeling it.

Though my bad weeks are very rare, I feel like it's important to share them so nobody thinks it's all rainbows and unicorns in my world. I ate more chocolate than usual, I had a few drinks during the week, I only ran 25 minutes of my long run yesterday.

The scale was not kind either. I got down to 176 then popped right back up to 177 just in time for my weigh in today.

73 pounds total!

This is my first "zero" week it doesn't really bother me (well maybe a little). Last week was a ridiculous loss and I certainly wasn't expecting a repeat of that.

Tomorrow is my 6.2 course run (again, already???) and I would really like to shake this before then. I'm hydrating all day today, NOT going to hot yoga tonight, NOT drinking bourbon tonight. NOT forgetting my water bottle tomorrow. Hoping that will all contribute to a more successful run than last week. God willing.

On a positive note, my number for the race came in the mail yesterday...
I moved up from starting corral X all the way to R! I will start 53 minutes earlier than I did last year - 8:37am. That will make a HUGE difference in the heat and I will take every bit of help I can get!

I'm done complaining now and off to enjoy my Friday. I'm going to go get a new running tank at Lululemon. Surely spending $50 or more on a tank top will make me a bad ass runner again!!

  1. It's hard not to be discouraged by a zero week, but you've come so far! Try to be kind to yourself during a bad week, and know that it will pass. Congratulations on your running accomplishments! Yes, you will rock a new tank top!

  2. Sometimes maintenance just means our body is adjusting to our losses from the previous week and getting used to it :)

Have a wonderful weekend. Good luck with your upcoming race and congratulations on 70+ lbs loss that is AMAZING!

  3. I bet you will see a bigger loss next week! I've been wanting to start back walking, but can't stand this Georgia humidity - I don't know how you are able to run in it! Way to go!

  4. Best wishes for your upcoming race. I agree, a new tank is sure to increase your pace.:)

I know you're disappointed in the zero week, but stay strong, next week will be good. 73 lbs gone so far is awesome.

  5. Goodluck on the Peachtree Road Race I did it about 3 years ago...I was thinking about signing up again when they had open registration but I quickly changed my mind...I want to be really prepared to do it again..so maybe next year I will sign up! Maybe I will be on the sideline rooting for you! Have a good time! Congrats on your weight loss so far!

  6. Everyone had bad weeks with running - you'll get used to the soup...er, humidity, again. Good news is that you've built up a great base and it won't take long, once the shock of running in wet air wears off. And how freaking awesome is it that your start time moved up so much?!! That will be great. Hope you have a much better practice run tomorrow - sounds like you're setting yourself up for great success (please read in Borat voice)!

  7. It's true--we all have weeks where the scale doesn't do what it should despite our best efforts. I've been there for two months!! But finally last week I lost 3 of the 6 pounds I gained, and I hope the rest will come off soon!

Meanwhile, you are doing great and I am really enjoying reading your progress. As I may have mentioned to you, my sister had the same surgery and seeing what you've been going through has helped me support her. Thank you!! Keep up the great work!!!

  8. You lost quite a bit last week, so your body is probably just taking a moment to get used to it and get equilibrium! You are doing a great job.

I went running over the weekend and really suffered from the humidity (I am in Florida). Not sure if I will keep it up all summer, but I will try!

  9. I have just started my journey, Kind of in the same boat, I was thinking about trying the liquid diet thing to start me off but I'm not so sure I have the will power. I have just started my blog and hope that if I have people to account too that I will be more focused... It time to start right... better late then never...
