mid-week motivation

I feel about a million times better after finally getting back to my yoga class after a week off. It was a grueling one too. Our normally sweet instructor got all drill instructor on our asses last night. It was probably a good thing because mine needed a kickin'. At one point she said "if I don't hear sweat hitting the mats like rain it's not hot enough in here." I was warm from head to toe all night after that. Fabulous!

Today I owe myself 4 miles on the treadmill at a lunchtime workout. I've decided I'm not going to beat myself up for not doing cardio on my yoga days but I'm going to set a mileage goal for the week and stick to it. This week it's 15 miles. Next week will be a little more. This half marathon is coming up fast.

I started the day with a big bowl of steel cut oats, munching on an apple and string cheese before I workout at noon, then a light lunch of some vegetable soup. Big stir fry with a tiny bit of brown rice for dinner and that should do me for the day.

There's a new show on A&E that's based on Intervention called "HEAVY". It's Better than the Biggest Loser in my opinion. Mostly because there's more information and less selling of Biggest Loser products and product placement. It's on On Demand in some areas. I'm looking forward to watching the rest of them this season. Check it out if you need a little motivation.

Hope everyone is having a great week! As always I appreciate all the support!

  1. I saw the first heavy... had to work this week though. It looked good and I could relate.

I dont have the upper body strength for yoga... sounds crazy.

  4. I've been meaning to watch it. TBL seems so contrived at times... and I'm a little iffy on the new trainers. They seem more pretty than anything else.

BTW - love your blog! You're doing an awesome job!

  5. I just found Heavy and set my DVR to record it - I like Intervention, so I bet I'll like Heavy as well. Thanks for the heads up about it!

Oh, and I loved the "sweat hitting the mats like rain" - great visual, and what a powerful instructor! Good on ya also for setting a mileage goal - which half are you doing? It's in March, right?

  7. Go Tina Go!! I'm nervous about Friday but looking forward to it.

I watched Heavy. On the fence about... I just don't like it as much. Can't figure out exactly what's missing but something doesn't click for me.
