I was doing my required plank and zoning out as much as possible in an effort to make it a little easier. I heard someone say "way to go T" and I looked around and I was the only one still up at the 1 minute 30 second mark!! I decided to try for 2 minutes and she tricked me into 2 minutes 5 seconds. Yes you read that right. 2 minutes 5 seconds.
That's the second time this week I made it to 2 minutes so I guess that's the new plank standard. Raising the bar once again!
Don't get me wrong, I don't love it but I do it. Here's why you should too. I even included a picture though I prefer to do it with shoes on.
- According to my trainer, it's the best exercise to do for all your muscles
- It's free
- It's fast
- Requires no equipment or even changing clothes
- Progress happens FAST
Seriously, I couldn't dream of even doing a minute when I started this a just 12 weeks ago.
*I'm so grateful for the encouragement of Karen, my trainer, and all the amazing women in my class for cheering me on even though they barely know me. I'd also like to thank my husband who graciously does them with me.
*That was my 2 minute plank award speech :)
Wow, congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI do crunches and push-ups in my class, but no planks. You've inspired me to try! (I'll also recommend them to my readers, as I just did a beginner's guide to exercise yesterday, and I think this would be a perfect addition to it.)
ive done 1 lol ..I had no clue they were that beneficial guess im gonna have to do more
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Who knew an exercise so simple could be so powerful? Don't you love it when you can see progress in your physical activity like that??
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the 2 minute plank. I do them and I know what an accomplishment 2 minutes is! I live in Atlanta as well and I love reading about your adventures.
ReplyDeleteI love the plank! Cracked me up to read "get down and do one now". I'm at my desk reading a few blogs on my lunch hour - and I'm in a suit. Could be funny!!! All the best.
ReplyDeleteI stopped reading and did one. I lasted 10 whole seconds before the shaking got out of hand. lol.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for being STRONG!!
Okay. As soon as my office is empty, I'll attempt it. Awesome job!
ReplyDeleteI just did it. Let me tell you this: You are incredible! Holding that pose for over two minutes is astounding. I think I held it for about 5 breaths, and every single muscle in my body quivered.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to do it again soon!
I didn't know about plank. How does plank help? It looks a stationary position so I am really curious. Apologies for my ignorance.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Tina, Ms. Strong Woman!!! L

ReplyDeleteI'm SO impressed my fellow plankers!!! Great job. Keep at it. you'll be surprised how quick you can progress!
ReplyDeleteCame by from Leslie's blog:) I did planks yesterday. I had read that they are one of the most effective core exercises so I like more bang for my workout buck. I also saw on Dr. Oz that they are good to prevent hernias and since I had one of those...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, that is amazing! My husband does them in his workout. I haven't tried them. I'm sure I'd only last a few seconds. I may have to have him show me how to do them.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could do a plank for 10 seconds. But now....now I will aim for 2 minutes. Since, that's the standard! I have some work to do!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new record!
