Monday Mixtape - Bittersweet Blogiversary Edition

Hi all. I totally apologize for my lack of updates but the usual craziness disclaimer applies. I know I've been bad when people are checking up on me.

Speaking of people checking up on me, y'all know that Shelley is my hero. I posed for this picture because it reminded me of her.

I haven't been on my bike in 7 years. First day - 4 blocks!

I just had my 3 year blogiversary but I chose not to acknowledge it because I don't feel very successful. Maybe that's a mistake and I should be celebrating all the progress I've made on the fitness front and I did say this year was about self discovery. I just don't feel like celebrating because I'm STILL not in control of my eating. Work has been even busier if that is even possible. After almost 2 years of owning my own business, I still can't say no to anything so I'm working an average of 12-14 hours a day. The days that get into the 'teens' range of hours are the dangerous days...the ones where my eating falls apart. Being too busy is the number one lamest excuse for being fat but sometimes I have to admit it's a huge factor.

I have 4 weeks until I go on the first vacation with my husband in over 3 years. We are going to the keys which to me, is heaven on earth. I could lose 10 pounds and be really happy so my goal is simply to keep up my pretty stellar workout routine, combine that with some calorie counting and hopefully get back to that feeling okay in a bathing suit place by then!

My mom said she didn't like my picture on my blog so I changed it. I just had to find a headshot for a business presentation so I used the same one. In case I've never said this before, my mom is always right!

Here's to a great week!

  1. Sometimes I get upset with myself for my lack of focus and the fact that I spend a lot of time treading water (and not in that super-healthy in-the-pool kind of way), but I think you oughta pat yourself on the back for staying in the game despite the fact that you've undergone a pretty huge life change along the way.

Have fun on the vacay. You've earned it!

  2. I love the bike picture!!! You look strong and healthy. :) And while you may not be exactly where you want to be right now, just the fact that you're aware of it means that you're on the right path. Congratulations on your three year blogiversary! I'm glad you continue to blog.

Also? I'm so happy you and the hubs are going on vacation soon. If there is ANYONE who has earned some time off, it's you, Miss Successful Business-Starter!

  5. Good for you for breaking out the bike! I've got plans to walk 5 mi tonight after work on the Greenway over here in Roswell/Alpharetta with my cousin Jennifer. Still can't believe I signed up for that damn Half Marathon, lol. Have a fab time in the Keys! Dwayne, Scarlette and I are escaping to Cherokee, NC at the end of Sept. to enjoy a couple of evenings in the Smokey Mtns. :)

  6. Hey! Found your blog through Shelley. Happy anniversary. Recently I blogged about being a weight loss blogger who never loses weight. But I agree with Mr. Sh*t: you're still around and that rocks.

  7. Here's to self-discoveries - you are working hard and need to just keep doing that. The eating thing? Well, I struggle too (who doesn't?) but at least you are doing a body good by staying active. That is what is important! Happy Blogiversary, BTW!

  8. I think we all go through being upset with ourselves over our lack of perfection - the trick is letting that go and focusing on what IS working. And you do a lot right Tina!

Love the bike photo... can't wait to see a series of them, just like Shelley has.

Enjoy your long awaited, well deserved vacation!

  9. I think that we are totally, entirely way too hard on ourselves. The fact that you are still here and doing what you can is a testament to bing te "work in progress" that we all are! Congrats on your three year blogoversary!

Keep on doing what you are doing!

  10. It's hard to keep going when progress flags. I think you should celebrate the fact you've kept on in the face of adversity and give yourself a pat on the back.
