still swimming

I have been a bad blogger and a bad blog friend. I just haven't had a second!

After a big struggle, I'm finally falling into my routine of eating right, working out 6 days a week and still managing to work for myself about 10 hours a day. It's been just about a month since I've been religiously working out and while the scale is not showing huge losses, I feel a bazillion times better. The working out is giving me the energy to do the work I need to do to get my business up and running.

Back in the days of working for the man, I always dreamed of working at home with my dogs and being the "superwoman" who could work, and blog, and exercise, and keep an immaculate house. Never did I realize how fast a day can go by. I'll be sitting at the computer and suddenly it's 5:00 and I haven't even showered much less started dinner or laundry or anything else that needs to get done. I think now that I'm on a good schedule, I can try to at least incorporate one household chore per day. I told my husband I was going to make a chore chart like when I was a kid. Actually, that's not a half bad idea :)

I have been entering my calories every day in Spark People and just haven't managed to do the math to update my calorie countdown. I will I promise. I did manage to put up last weeks loss though. Not impressive numbers by any means but I really can feel a difference. Scale can suck it. Hope everyone is having a great week!!

  1. I was just thinking about starting a "chore schedule" for myself. Too funny! I was going to designate a day to "pick up" a room. I agree, I think it just might work...

  2. My hubby works on Sundays from 9:30-6:00. Every single Sunday, I am astonished when I don't get everything done I intended to, it's 6:00 and he'll be home any minute. Why is it that my days at work drag and my days at home fly by?

  3. When you gain muscle (good) and lose fat...sometimes the scale looks stuck...but your body composition is changing for the better! Hang in there...and great job on the exercise!!

  4. Just came across your blog...

I'm a stay at home mom...with kids at school all day. It's amazing how the day can run away from you even when your home...

  5. I know about the day slipping away...right now I'm washing sheets so I can say I got one thing done around the house today! Glad you are feeling so good - and yes, the scale CAN suck it (I want a t-shirt, too!).

  6. Sign me up for the "scale can suck it" t-shirt!

Congratulations - on all of it! The loss (however modest), the workouts, the WORK, and finding the right balance for your new life.

    Keep it up!

  7. chore schedules are great! I have one for each person in the house. I have been wondering how I can "follow" your blog because its nice to see someone else swimming too!

  8. Yes the scale can definitely disappoint! But I love your ideas, and your plan for chores is great. We follow a loose schedule, but then on Friday we have "Friday cleaning" where we do everything I can think of that needs to be done. With nine of us though, it goes fast!

  9. I'm wanting to begin swimming because it'll be the best exercise that won't aggravate my knee. I still haven't gotten over my bathing suit in public phobia, and I'm going to have to just suck it up and do it.

Sounds like your keeping the balls in the air pretty well. Love the chore chart idea - you could institute a sticker reinforcement when a completed task would allow you gold star or something!

  10. Oh, I have always thought I would love to work at home and how much I would get done, but then again would it get done? Anyhow, you are doing great even though the scale doesn't move. Keep it up. I have an award for you over on my page.

  11. I have that same holy crap feeling how did it get to be 5:00 on the days I work from home.

How have I not seen you before, Tina? A fellow Atlantan! A fellow swimmer! I'd be really interested to hear what your swimming routine is. . . I've just gotten started and I love it so much more than the elliptical that my trainer pushes me toward. . ..
